Most brands start from a library formula the lab has already tested, the fastest and lowest-cost route, then adjust the actives, texture or scent. A custom formula is developed from your brief. Either way you see the full INCI list before you approve a sample.
Packaging that protects the actives
A glass dropper bottle suits most serums and photographs well. Vitamin C and retinal lose strength when they meet air and light, so we suggest an airless pump or an opaque bottle for them. Stock containers carry no tooling cost; custom colors, frosting, printing and a box are quoted as separate lines. See packaging and branding.
Price and minimum order
Private label serum starts from $3.70 per unit at 500 units, based on a library formula, a stock 30 mL container and a one-color label. The final price depends on your requirements: active levels, container, decoration and quantity.
Larger runs cost less per unit: about 20% less at 1,000 units, 35% less at 3,000, 42% less at 5,000 and 50% less at 10,000, against the 500-unit price. Your written quote shows the exact numbers.
Timeline
Lab samples ship in about two weeks from your brief. With a library formula and stock packaging, finished products reach you in about 10 weeks. A custom formula takes 12 to 16 weeks, and reorders 4 to 6 weeks.
